Safe Working Issues

****Important please read below****

Child Protection

Tower Hamlets Homes expects that all of its partners working with children and young people i.e. up to the age of 18 years, to apply good practice with regard to child protection issues, in line with the policies and procedures operating within the Tower Hamlets Council, and which are compliant with the law.

If your bid is for a project that involves children and young people, before funding is provided, the key members of your group will be required to:

*Attend the Tower Hamlets Homes 'Safe Events and Activities Workshop' on good practice.

*Read and adhere to the Safe Working Guide on working with children and young people (they will receive a copy on the training day)

*Agree to having Criminal Record Bureau (CRB) checks, which we will organise, and to disclosing the checks to named officers within Tower Hamlets Home.

Similarly we expect those working with vulnerable adults to adopt appropriate good practice, along the lines of those for child protection.

Health and Safety

Tower Hamlets Homes also expects that any project it supports does not pose any other health and safety risks for the public.

Therefore, again before funding is provided we will require key members of your group to:

*Attend the 'Safe Events and Activities Workshop' on undertaking risk assessments.

*Complete and submit risk assessment forms identifying how risks will be managed or removed.

On the training day your group will also receive advice and guidance regarding first aid, food hygiene and the emergency services.

Insurance Cover

It is likely your group will be required to secure adequate insurance cover for your project, you will need to ensure the costs are covered within your application.
